Same problem here.
Same version, TP-Link TL-WR842ND.
With Barrier Breaker everything ok.
comment:2 Changed 3 years ago by anonymous
Yes the same problem.
With barrier_breaker 14.07 it works. But not with Chaos Calmer 15.05 RC1 or snapshots.
Use hide.me VPN

Using the snapshot from today morning, I hit the same problem, however I could solve it:
You are missing one of the following packages (I did not try which one finally made the trick, but I guess the last one):
The message LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests indicates missing gre support or dropped packages of this kind.

Hey Thanks! I just installed the package
and it works. Problem solved!
comment:5 Changed 2 years ago by anonymous
I can confirm this, installing above mentioned packages is needed in order to make pptp vpn work

Thanks. I set up pptp vpn client in BarrierBreaker 14.07, only need these commands:
opkg update
opkg install ppp-mod-pptp
but in Chaos Calmer, also need this:
opkg install kmod-nf-nathelper-extra

I am having the same issue too. But i can’t find the kmod-nf-nathelper-extra package to solve it.
I’m using a TP-Link Archer C5 v1.
On BB 14.07 the PPTP connection worked with no issues.
After Updating to CC 15.05 (Stable Release Version) the PPTP connection broke with «LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests» error.
After googeling the error message i found this Ticket. Unfortunately i can’t find the «kmod-nf-nathelper-extra» package.
Has the package been removed in the Chaos Calmer release version? How can i get it?
Please help. 🙂

[SOLVED]
I just did another update from my package list and the kmod-nf-nathelper-extra package was found. This is very strange since obviously i have updated the package list before.
PPTP is working now. 🙂

But how make normal routing?
In one case — all trafic via pptp ?
In other case — only for some subnet routing.
Thanks.
I am trying to connect to a PPTP VPN server. The same config works fine in Windows but fails in Ubuntu 12.10. It must be some configuration issue.
Everything is setup correctly. But then when I try to actually run the VPN I get this:
When I do this for more details:
Why is it not connecting? It works fine from Windows, so it must be something with Ubuntu 12.10 settings.
EDIT:
Is there any information about how to utilize this information to see what might have gone wrong?
I have been having issues with my VPN connection on my server. If I try to connect to it I get the following error:
2010-12-08 18:29:18 EST Incoming call. Address given to client = 192.168.0.XXX
Wed Dec 8 18:29:18 2010 : Directory Services Authentication plugin initialized

Wed Dec 8 18:29:19 2010 : Connect: ppp0 socket[34:17]
Wed Dec 8 18:29:19 2010 : sent [LCP ConfReq >
Can somebody please provide me with some insight into the reason why this would be happening?

VPN has been a continuing issue in or organisation. There could be more than one issue problem causing the issues we have, however we have found that our Netgear router appears to have issues. After a bit of research on other forums I found other people who had flagged other Netgear routers as having similar issues and that VPN connections could be reestablished buy turning on and off settings with in the control panel for the router. Doing so jogs it working again for no apparent reason, even when the resulting settings are exactly the same as before.
It is because of this reason and other issues I have had with other Netgear routers that I have decided that I cant fully fix our issues with VPN until we have replaced our router with something more suitable.

Problem solved. It was not a router issue for us.
It was the setup on the PC side. It only will connect via PPTP so we are using that and turned off L2TP.
under Options/PPP I have only Enable LCP extensions checked.
Security tab Challenge Handshake checked and MS CHAP Version 2 checked. Require encryption(disconnect if server declines).
Networking/Advanced TCP/IP checked Use default gateway on remote network
WINS/ Enable NetBios over TCP/IP is circled.
That’s pretty much it on the client side.
