One of the main reasons people play Saiyan in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is to go Super Saiyan, just like characters in the show. There is good news this time around, it doesn’t require doing Parallel Quest and hoping you get lucky enough to get it.
There is a set way to unlock it where you get it 100%, plus Super Saiyan 3 was added as a transformation on your created character. I’ll explain how to unlock these transformations so you don’t have to wonder when you you will unlock it.
This guide will go over unlocking the Super Saiyan Awoken skill for your created character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 including:
- How to Unlock Super Saiyan — What you need to unlock the skill.
- How Super Saiyan Works — Changes to how Super Saiyan works in this game.
How to Unlock Super Saiyan
It should be obvious, but first, your character must be a Saiyan. If you are, you will be able to get extra quests from Vegeta. There will be some slight spoilers about his quests ahead.
- This is from the Capsule Corporation location, not from him as an instructor.
- You must either reach level 40 or complete the Cell Saga to get the second training mission from him, then you get another mission after, which leads to unlocking it.
Once you complete the second mission, he will comment on how you haven’t transformed yet, then tell you to talk to his family about Super Saiyan.
- Talk to Bulma nearby in the Capsule Corporation.
- After that, talk to Kid Trunks in the same area.
- Go back to Vegeta to unlock the mission, Saiyan Awakening.
This mission involves fighting Vegeta and Goku in their Super Saiyan forms. You will be able to turn Super Saiyan later in the fight and it can last as long as you are in the mission.
Once you complete the mission, you unlock the transformation.
How Super Saiyan Works
Super Saiyan is a bit different this time around. You still put it in its own slot, the Awoken skill slot, but you don’t need to unlock each stage separately.
You will transform to either super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, or Super Saiyan 3 depending on how many Ki bars you have at the time.
- Super Saiyan — 3 Bars
- Super Saiyan 2 — 4 Bars
- Super Saiyan 3 — 5+ bars
You still still use up Ki bars when you transform, unlike the last game. However, you won’t slowly drain Ki anymore, or fall out of the transformation.
You can stay in it as long as you like. Your Ki regeneration is lower though, so you will want an Energy Charge ability.

I read it was via beating mission 67 were you fight SSJ God Goku, i beat it like 5 time i got a C or less but i couldn’t unlock the SSJ God, any help?
edit: FIxed awful grammar, i unlocked the extra battle via not transforming (i guess), for people with the same problem
To explain things for both cases in a single post for others to quickly see and understand.
First, there’s no super saiyan god (red aura) transformation for cacs nor for any version of Goku in game for players to use (mods may exist but vanilla game lacks this). To my understanding, when NPC Goku (and any other NPC) «transforms» in a PQ, it’s simply a scripted event that fully swaps the characters, with the event itself serving to mask the loading time required to do said swap. Super Saiyan God Goku is a fully separate character with his own roster slot in the character select screen. To obtain this character, you do the PQ where you fight him several times in a row. PQ 67 if I remember. Just completing the PQ will unlock the character. Don’t remember if you need Ult finish or not, though. But this one is very easy to ult finish anyway.
What IS available as a transformation for saiyan cacs is super saiyan blue. For that, you must be at least level 90, have Whis as instructor, and max his friendship. The fastest way to max an instructor’s friendship is to do missions with that instructor as partner in Fu’s altered storyline at the Time nest area.
You read wrong, to Unlock Super Saiyan Blue you need to get Maxed out Partnership when training with Whis as your mentor.
So basically just run a bunch of PQ’s with two Whis as your AI’s and when your Partnership is maxed out, talk to whis and you’ll get your Super Saiyan Blue transformation.
Unless you meant SS GOD Goku, and if so.. .Did you beat the mission with an ultimate finish?

Ultimate Finish means you just did the extra objective to the mission.
So in this case with PQ 67 you’d need to clear it in underneath three minutes and then beat revived Super Saiyan God Goku.
Seeing as how you mentioned in your original post that you got a «C» ranking, I don’t think you got the extra objective for this PQ.

It helps to increase bar, you need to be around level 90 too, to get SSB
